The Protector is the fourth work in my Tabernacle of Memories series, aligned with ‘The High Priestess’ in tarot. Centred on an altar icon of Our Lady of Luján, it weaves symbols of faith, paradox, and protection – from parrot wings and cicadas to claws, crystals, and malachite. The work reflects on divinity’s presence in both beauty and darkness, inviting viewers to confront the gaze of the Virgin as a mirror of their own soul.

All works are printed by a Hahnemühle Certified studio in Cape Town, South Africa. Each work is inspected, signed and editioned by Wim van Zyl.
